Ysgol Hendre

Had a great couple of days down at Ysgol Hendre in Bryncoch. Ysgol Hendre is a special school for the 21st Century, which serves the needs of secondary aged pupils with learning difficulties in Neath Port Talbot. The school also has a regional centre for Deafblind children and young people with multisensory impairment aged between 2 and 19 from across South and West Wales.

The pupils were keen to give their pool room a bit of a makeover, we painted the design below today and painted the wall opposite last week, but I haven't got any good shots of it yet! The wall below took 3hrs to complete.

Last couple of weeks

Been a bit slow updating this so here are a selections of bits and pieces from the last fortnight. Big Up to all those involved...

First up was a revamp of the Basement Bus, which is a mobile youth information service working in Caerphilly

Next, a couple of workshops for the South Wales Fire Service's Arson Rap Project...

I've been running weekly sessions with Newbridge High School in Caerphilly as part of The Mix Project. Giving young people the Chance to try out different forms of art and music. This week we've been working on canvases that will reflect the types of jobs the young people would like to have in the future. We used a mix of spraypaint and acrylics for this...

Then off to Newport to work with the Bettws NEET Project on designing and painting a mural for the Bettws in Bloom site. Still got a little bit more work to do, but it's getting there..

Now up to Pontypridd High School as part of their E3+ programme which provides extra curricular activities for it's pupils. We've just started to paint their kick walls with a medieval sporting theme featuring Knights, Dragons, Wizards and Lions. We're hoping to get it completed next week, weather permitting!!

And finally up to Cymmer Afan School in Neath. I'm working with the youth club based at the school to design and paint some walls with them. We've just had our design session and next week it'll be on with the painting...

Pembroke Dock

Here's a selection of photos from last weeks trip to Pembroke dock.

First up was Little Elms School on Wednesday, thanks to Billie, Evan, Rhys and Shannon for all their hard work!

Then it was on to the underpass on Saturday. Thanks to everyone that came along and all your hard work. Big thanks to Brad Wood for coming down to help deliver the session and Charlotte from Pembrokeshire Youth Offending Service for organising the day. We must've painted 100ft of wall in 8hrs... This is the only shot I've got for now, more to follow shortly....

And finally just a few shots from previous visits to the Pembroke Dock Youth Centre. Thanks to Craig Jenkins for getting involved with these and Matt Done of Pembrokeshire Youth Services for the work.

Pembroke Dock Skatepark

Painted this back at the start of the summer with young people from the Pembroke Dock Youth Centre. Freestyled the ideas on the day and had Craig Jenkins helping out on this one. As a result we did an extreme skateboarding octopus, skulls, a viking ship castle, and a flying boat........

Reducing, Re-using and Recycling at Tasker Milward School, Haverfordwest

The Gurnos Continued...

This was the result of 4hrs paintings with the local youths up on the Gurnos Estate, Merthyr Tydfil. The wall is part of a massive re-development to the shopping centre. The other wall we did is still in progress, should have completed shots up next week.... Weather permitting.......

Pontardawe Autumn Festival

Had a great day in the sun down in Pontardawe as part of their Autumn Festival at the Arts Centre. Managed to get 4 boards painted over the day with plenty of willing participants. This workshop was funded through Neath and Port Talbot County Council's Arts Development department.

Haverfordwest 900 years

Creative writing artist Cheryl Beer ran a session with the attendees of the Hive Youth Club to write some poems / songs celebrating 900 years of Haverfordwest. A line of their work "Always growing always living" was used as the basis for this project. This wall was the biggest I've run as a youth project and is a credit to the participants that we painted 200ft + in just 3 days! The project was funded by the Dyfed Powys Police,  local councillor Lyndon Frailing and Eddie's Pool Bar.

Milford Haven Spokes Project

The plan was to re-decorate a battered shipping container that had been donated to Pembrokeshire Youth Services for their 'Spokes' bike project. These containers are never fun to paint due to the undulating surface, but the guys did a great job!
